Genre's

So what is everyone's favourite genre these days? I used to go raving in the early 90's, 1994 was a special year for me and house music. I think That year it came into it's own and was the best it has ever been.

It's kinda weir because back in the day house music was house music, there were not all these separate genres. You would walk into the house room knowing house music was playing.

These days I kinda imagine conversations having to be had about what genre of house is playing in what room, mental!!

Back in the day house was just house, I know i've said that already but my point this time is that it had a little bit of everything in it and that is why I personally think it was the best it will ever be. There were tracks what would be classed as tech house mixed in with abit of vocal house and house music and minimal house and ever genre tht you can bloody think of lol and it was damn amazing.

STOP - everything but that horrible Big room stuff that is absolutely horrible commercial bollox further ruining the rave scene for everyone by making it too commercialized.

House music has always been defined as being underground. Like .a secret society of like minded people who would meet at secret destinations with nothing but love in their hearts and the needing to dance, hug, kiss and love everybody they meet along the way.

I'm not sure how many of you folks know this but House music was was invented in a little club called the warehouse in 1977 in Chicago (i believe it still exists today, you will have to google that one). It was like a place where all the weirdos would go and watch these guys play all this weird kind of music by scratching and mixing with tape and weird instruments with the 4 to the floor beat slowly being implemented. Let me go back a sec, House music is really the baby of disco music....true story.

So these guys were coming in with their weird electronic equipment and making all these weird crazy sounds, implementing 4 to the floor beats and crazy baselines. More and more people started to go, more and more people started to dance. the music just evolved from there and kept evolving to what we consider house music now. I will never forgoer and nor will all the house music ravers in the late eighties and early 90's how awesome house music was. Yes house music, just one style with everything else mixed in. It was fucking awesome and the best time of my life!!

I mainly just listen to tech and trance now because those genres are the clost to what it use to be way back when. Modern trance now even uses a lot of samples from early 90's house music and that's why a lot of people love trance to house music these days.

It's a shame, if only we could turn back time and some how stop house music being ruined because there was more money in there being genres. Somewhere along the lines it was forgotten what the rave scene was all about. It wasn't about making money, it was about having the best time of your life, dancing your tits off like a maniac, talking shit to random strangers and wanting to give everyone you meet a big hug. It was all about LOVE and it was a bloody amazing time to be alive!

Thanks for reading.

Leave what genres you love and why in the comments or just show the love and remember what it was like being a part of that very special time.
